The new Sargent Fishing Pier will be a great resource for people who might  have somewhat limited access to the Gulf of Mexico from Sargent, Houston, Victoria and other areas. . This New pier will come at a time when the State also plans on replacing the last “Texas Swing Bridge” in Texas to Sargent Beach Island. The first real cold front passed though Sargent this weekend.  It has put everyone in the spirit for end of year Holidays,  "Giant Winter Trout" and the 18th annual "Sargent Boat Parade" on November 26.  The first Saturday after Thanksgiving.  This year the Sargent Boat parade fun starts at the mouth of Carney Creek.  To participate  Boat Owners can contact Kim Ware 713-829-9746 or Marie Zikuhr 979-245-9876. The Sargent Area Chamber of Commerse holing out Fishing Action in and around Sargent and East Matagorda Bay really picking up. Fishing Picks up around Sargent as Brazos River Crest The Brazos Rivers have experienced some incredible freshwater runoff and flooding.  As of the middle of June they have now Top crest but they are still drain incredible  amounts of water from Central Texas close to Sargent. They are located North of Sargent in the San Bernard Wildlife Preserve. They are very inaccessible and can be dangerous. . Winter Fishing in Sargent Enjoy fishing while running out the Winter Boat Blues. Winter fishing around Sargent is really fun. It's time to fish for Sheepshead.  Sheepshead are really abundant and prolific around East Matagorda Bay and Sargent Texas. The East Matagorda Bay Oyster is making a comeback.  But unfortunately  this season's opening  has been delayed The commercial Oyster Beds are located about 10 miles south of Sargent and fan out from  Live Oak Bay and Dressing point. Sargent Fall Fishing: Drift fishing

In the Fall the North East Winds can disorient bait fish and shrimp  when they pass though near Sargent. Cool Fronts bring this kind of wind. This is a good thing. Bait can "stack up" in different parts of the bay. This attracts big fish. Look for birds check out south shore line and work the drift map This weekend look for drifts off South Shore. The Surf off Mitchell cut still producing fish and bait.  So all around Sargent tides Winds and plenty of fish. Look for some flounder starting to run with this new cool front. Remember  to count to 10 before setting your hook when you have flounder....
