Sargent Mitchell's Cut From The Air This week we take to the air over Mitchell's Cut in Sargent. I have been working on my boat. So instead of writing about Sargent we got you up in the air for a  birds eye view of Mitchell's Cut. Colorado River used to flow though Sargent and Caney Creek

Colorado River used to drain out at Sargent Beach About 1000 years ago the Colorado River which drains parts of the Hill country and Austin jumped out of its main channel at Glen Floral Texas. Then it headed to the Gulf though Caney Creek. In relatively recent geological time of the past 6,000 years  Texas Rivers  rivers would changed their course from time to time. The flow of the Colorado river would empty into the Gulf of Mexico at Sargent Beach.. Now it flows to it’s latest exit into the Gulf of Mexico near  Matagorda Texas.  This happened in the last 6,000 years In North East Texas...

The Cedar Lakes North of Sargent Texas A few people have asked me to post some information about the Cedar Lakes. The Cedar Lakes are a really wild part of the Texas Coast. They are located North of Sargent in the San Bernard Wildlife Preserve. They are very inaccessible and can be dangerous. . I have only fished in front of them from the Intracoastal and was very timid about going into them with my boat. I have fished the beach cut from the Gulf that goes into the lake closest to Sargent. San Bernard Wildlife Refuge near Sargent Texas

Sargent Texas is surrounded by some incredible wildlife  refuges. This insures incredible bird watching, hunting and fishing recreation around Sargent into the future.   These preserves include the San Bernard Wildlife Refuge to our east. Big Boggy to our west which included Dresser Point or Bird Island.  It is a major rookery for Pelicans and other seabirds. As you head north of Sargent along Cayney Creek to the east run into Dance Bayou Forested  Track which is one of the last great intact Bottomland Southern Forest left in the United States.
