Sargent Waterfowl Zone Hunt Starts The Sargent Permit Zone is open November 3, 2018. Note Section Hunt area 9 and 10 are not avalable. If you did not win entrance Permits in the raffle that was held a few weeks ago. Sometimes you can get on the hunt by calling the morning of the hunt and get on list for people who do not show up. New Sargent Bridge plans. Recently I came across a posted photo of the New Sargent Bridge. It is a "Corkscrew shaped Bridge" on 457 in Sargent Texas,the one that will replace our current Sargent Floating Swing Bridge.  It is supposed to  limit the Environmental impact with the new design.  When you look at it's footprint on the map it is very compact. Sometime in March Sargent will have a brand spanking new retail store.  For people who live in Sargent  this will be a welcome addition to the two Country Stores that have served Sargent for years now. Sargent Country Store (Texaco) has served Sargent and they do an outstanding  job. Many times they stock very "Hard to get" Hardware for local jobs that we can't find in stores in Houston. We had showers again last week and seems like the drought is just about over in different parts of the ecosystem. It seems like since Hurricane Ike it has been really dry in the Sargent area. Now showers and rain flush out the creeks and rivers that empty into the Bay. The Croaker are running larger and there are incredible amounts of juvenile red fish that are being caught along the coast. This is good for the bay.
