Sargent Mitchell's Cut From The Air This week we take to the air over Mitchell's Cut in Sargent. I have been working on my boat. So instead of writing about Sargent we got you up in the air for a  birds eye view of Mitchell's Cut. Colorado River used to drain out at Sargent Beach About 1000 years ago the Colorado River which drains parts of the Hill country and Austin jumped out of its main channel at Glen Floral Texas. Then it headed to the Gulf though Caney Creek. In relatively recent geological time of the past 6,000 years  Texas Rivers  rivers would changed their course from time to time. The flow of the Colorado river would empty into the Gulf of Mexico at Sargent Beach.. Fishing Picks up around Sargent as Brazos River Crest The Brazos Rivers have experienced some incredible freshwater runoff and flooding.  As of the middle of June they have now Top crest but they are still drain incredible  amounts of water from Central Texas close to Sargent. Dollar General to open a new store in Sargent Texas. Sometime in March Sargent will have a brand spanking new retail store.  For people who live in Sargent  this will be a welcome addition to the two Country Stores that have served Sargent for years now. Sargent Country Store (Texaco) has served Sargent and they do an outstanding  job. Many times they stock very "Hard to get" Hardware for local jobs that we can't find in stores in Houston. San Bernard Wildlife Refuge near Sargent Texas

Sargent Texas is surrounded by some incredible wildlife  refuges. This insures incredible bird watching, hunting and fishing recreation around Sargent into the future.   These preserves include the San Bernard Wildlife Refuge to our east. Big Boggy to our west which included Dresser Point or Bird Island.  It is a major rookery for Pelicans and other seabirds. East Matagorda Bay Map. Where to catch fish around Sargent Texas? Spring fishing on incoming tides around East Matagorda Bay. Good tides this weekend for fishing Caney Creek, Sargent Beach and Bay. Sargent gets large inflow of water to East Matagorda Bay because it is located at Michells Cut.  The cut provides the most direct flow of fresh salt water into the East Matagorda Bay.
