After the water surge in Sargent people starting to see some dead fish and shrimp  in Caney Creek, canals, and the Intracoastal water way. This situation is caused by the massive amount of fresh water that has flushed out Prairies, woods and bottom lands that make up the greater Sargent Ecosystem and the East Matagorda Bay Watershed. Hurricane Harvey and East Matagorda Bay Harvey and his surge effects hit the Gulf Coast Town of Sargent today. Sargent is located on the northern part of East Matagorda Bay. Sargent has some high water but missed the brunt of Storm.Our hopes and prayers go out to those who were hurt by the storm. Rains still falling and we are watching for flood threat. So instead of writing about Sargent we got you up in the air for a  birds eye view of Mitchell's Cut. Rainy Start of Summer Season in Sargent What a week of rain this has been. We have had a bunch of fresh water flowing into East Matagorda Bay from Caney Creek and this should bring about a lot of bait-fish and shrimp in the Bay.  Rains welcome the Summer Season and incredible fishing. This should allow contestants in early fishing tournaments such as the START Tournament next week at Hookers to do very well. This is a great local event for Sargent. Delay in completion of New Sargent Fishing Pier

"The Sargent Fishing Pier construction will temporarily come to an end," says Matagorda County Precinct 2 Commissioner Kent Pollard. It seems that the County decided to temporary stop the completion of the Pier until they secure new funds for the final, final completion. "We have a special permit that allows us to complete the Pier within three years,"  says Prescient 2 Commissioner Kent Pollard.  The pier will be 180 feet long  vs 500 feet planned until the project gets more funding. Sargent, Texas is getting it’s own public  “Sargent Fishing Pier”. The new Sargent Fishing Pier will be a great resource for people who might  have somewhat limited access to the Gulf of Mexico from Sargent, Houston, Victoria and other areas. . This New pier will come at a time when the State also plans on replacing the last “Texas Swing Bridge” in Texas to Sargent Beach Island. Sargent Texas| Rainy weather for Ducks Happy New Year Ducks still quacking in Sargent Texas which has experience some well needed rains the last few weeks. Both the San Bernand Wildlife Preserve and Big Boggy have great conditions. Lets be honest the Ducks liked the rain more then the people of Sargent do.  We have lots  of freshwater passing Sargent and into East Matagorda Bay. Great for the Bay and ecosystem. The first real cold front passed though Sargent this weekend.  It has put everyone in the spirit for end of year Holidays,  "Giant Winter Trout" and the 18th annual "Sargent Boat Parade" on November 26.  The first Saturday after Thanksgiving.  This year the Sargent Boat parade fun starts at the mouth of Carney Creek.  To participate  Boat Owners can contact Kim Ware 713-829-9746 or Marie Zikuhr 979-245-9876.
